The Wu Xing of Chinese medicine and Taoist philosophy are often translated as The 5 Elements. However, this can be a little misleading, as an element implies something that is solid or permanent. A better translation may be the 5 phases, as the Wu Xing are continuously changing and morphing into each other. For once this evening, Matt is not going to talk for too long but is instead going to demonstrate how the Wu Xing can be felt and experienced within the body. And for the first time in a long time, Matt will be teaching Qi Gong exercises along side meditation postures and mudras that are associated with the 5 phases and how they can be embodied. As without, so within. Please wear loose-fitting clothing if you wish to join in.
Matt Fellows is a rarity these days…a person born and grown up in Glastonbury, whose family have lived here for as long as anyone can remember! Although he has travelled the world extensively and has a degree in social anthropology, all roads always seem to lead back home.
Having studied the Chinese Arts since his teens, he gained an acupuncture degree in 2008, and as a product of Glastonbury’s special ambience, after qualifying, he naturally gravitated to matters of the spirit!
“Matt consistently delivers inspiring and enlightening talks at our group, each one offering profound insights and healing. His deep understanding of the Tao and ancient mystery teachings, focused on achieving balance within our energy system, makes both his talks and acupuncture practice invaluable resources for the community in Glastonbury. Come and deepen your awareness of the esoteric teachings of harmony and healing through acupuncture, nature, and the spirit.”
~ Glastonbury Inner Light
The venue is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. There are good chairs, along with cushions and sheepskins in the room for added cosiness. You are also welcome to bring your own cushion or blanket.
As a shoes-off venue, you may like to bring your slippers or thick, non-slip socks.
Through the evening, delicious teas and organic biscuits will be available. There will be time for questions and answers, followed by an opportunity for socialising for those who wish to stay a little longer after the talk. Glastonbury Inner Light community is a wonderful place to meet likeminded people and make new friends, and it is also an environment in which you are able to be in your own space and enjoy quietness if you prefer.
