Dr. Angela Voss
The Secret Life of Statues

This talk is temporarily postponed.
We will put up details when we have a new date.
Our apologies for any disappointment.

Have you ever wondered why some people say they see statues move, cry, or speak? In this talk, Angela will explore how the veneration of statues in the ancient world, and in some spiritual practices today, connects the worshipper with the life embodied in the image and animates it. We will think about how much this depends on the consciousness of the viewer, the genius of the artist, and the place or context of the statue. We will also delve deeply into the esoteric ideas underpinning statue magic and consider their symbolic function as icons that mediate between our world and the world of the divine archetypes.

Dr Angela Voss directed MA programmes in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred in Canterbury for 20 years. She is a musician and astrologer, and has published extensively on astrology, divination, esotericism and music. Having left academia behind, she is now focussed on a personal healing journey and on bringing her knowledge alive. Her written work, YouTube podcasts and MA archive can be found at where her colleagues continue to run a Diploma course.
